Jolly

Hello
What do you do when you have some leftover pieces of patterned duct tape?
You make a card!

This was a super easy card I made using some pieces of duct tape stuck onto cardstock.
I cut them into squares and glued them over my white embossed card front.
I die cut the 'be jolly' and glued that over the tape and done.

See....I told you, super simple.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Breathe Kindness

Meet today's card.
Today, I am hosting the Technique Lovers Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers.
For my challenge, I am presenting Loll Thompson's video as inspiration:

If you are a regular here at my blog, you know that I have been addicted to this fun and easy technique to create quick, simple backgrounds.  What I also love about them is that they are easy to stamp over.  I use a heavy white cardstock but you can use watercolour paper as Loll suggests in her video.  I think most of you already have some kind of water based ink on hand.

So using Loll's technique and some Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Oxides, my background was born.  It dries quickly which is good if you want to get down to stamping like I do.
I stamped the Grafitti down the left side to help ground the card with Salty Ocean so it would blend in with the layers of ink already on my card.
I place the thistle stamp into my Misti, inked with black and pressed onto my paper.
I also did that with the sentiment.

Thanks so much for taking a look.
Hope you get a chance to try it out.

Merry Wishes

Happy Saturday.
Today, I am having some fun with new stamps from Penny Black.
Lots of new to see HERE.

So onto my card.
I began by masking my card front with a piece of scrap paper.  I placed the Berry Speckled into my Misti and coloured the branches and berries using my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the inking.
I sponged in the bkg using Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans Distress inks then did a bit of stenciling using some drywall tape.  I think it helps add some depth and interest to the background.
I splattered some white acylic paint over the top using a toothbrush, then scored the masked edge using my Scorbug.  For those of you that are not familiar with a Scorbug, it is a little tool that adds raised dots and is used in your ScorPal.
The sentiment was stamped using black Memento ink and my Misti again. The sentiment is from a great new sentiment set called Love and Peace.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I appreciate your most kind comments and emails so very much!

Jolly Old Santa

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.  Very simple, fun card featuring this great laughing Santa.

So here's what I did.
I cut a circle stencil using a piece of heavy acetate and sponged over the circles with Distress inks to create the background.  Next, I scored along the top and the bottom to help define the stenciled area and to help pull the eye into the main part of the card.
I stamped the sentiment from Technique Tuesday using my Misti and black Memento ink.
On a separate piece of cardstock, I stamped the Santa image and fussy cut it out.  I pop dotted the Santa and finally added some Nuvo drops for interest.
A very clean and simple card.

Feeling happy to have another holiday card finished.
Thanks so very much for the visit.

Graffiti Christmas

Hello and Welcome.
Meet today's card.
I wanted to make a masculine holiday card and this is what I came up with.

One of my favorite techniques that is fun and easy is called
Basically what you do is ink the inside of your eb folder, spray with water and press onto your paper.
Here, I used an embossing folder from Carabelle and inked it with Distress inks to create my background.  Love how it came out and a wonderful way to get more mileage from your folders!
Next, I die cut the snowflake from SSS and heat embossed it using silver powder.
To help it pop, I mounted it over a small piece of vellum that I rounded the corners on to match the shape of the die.
Stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches using my Misti and done.

Winter Ice

Happy Saturday!
Time to play.
Trying to get caught up with creating some Christmas card.

I began by creating my background using the Splash Watercolour Technique and my Distress Oxide inks.  It is really easy and quick to create a bkg using this method of inking.
When that was dry, I stamped the large snowflake from a Stampin Up set (sorry I don't know the name) and then the smaller snowflakes with Versamark and heat embossed them using white eb powder.
To add additional interest and depth to the simple bkg., I stenciled using some drywall tape.
Using my Misti, I stamped this great sentiment from Technique Tuesday with black ink to help make it pop. Lastly, I added the blue gem stone to the center of the snowflake.

That's it, another card ready for the holidays.

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for the visit.

Moment

Good Morning.
Today, a simple card with a simple message.
I have been so busy lately that I needed to take some time, a moment to pause and create.

I just picked up this great die from Memory Box and thought I would add it to a leftover inky background.
The background was done using Distress Oxides and the Splash Watercolour technique.
Love these colour blends and the DOX's are so easy to use to achieve this look.
I die cut the opening, glued the inked piece behind after stamping the word 'Moment' and then to add additional interest to the die cut, I pierced around the circle.
The whole piece was pop dotted over a pale shade of blue cardstock.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Leaf Prints- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
This month we are celebrating our 1st Birthday at the

Great prizes and great Fall theme:

For my card, I decided to go for the real thing.  I went out to the front of my house and picked a small maple leaf off the tree.  I tried to chose one that wasn't too large and not too dried out so it would ink up nicely and fit onto my card front.
I rubbed Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink onto my non-stick craft sheet, sprayed a bit of water onto the ink then carefully pressed the leaf into the ink using the backside or the side that has the veins of the leaf more protruded.  I lifted it up making sure the whole leaf was covered with the watered down ink, then laid it onto my cardstock.  I took a piece of scrap paper, placed it over the top and rubbed to transfer all the ink.  Don't worry if the leaf doesn't totally print because you can ink your leaf again and carefully place it over the first impression.
I cleaned off the leaf then repeated the process using Fired Brick then Peeled Paint DOX.
When that was dry, I diluted some some Brushed Corduroy and filled in the background a bit with a wet paintbrush to look like puddles the leaves were laying in.
I stamped the sentiment using my Misti and clear heat embossed it, then pop dotted the panel onto a plain white card.

It was fun to use something directly from Mother Nature to create my card.
Thanks so much for the visit and I hope you will come and play along with us.

More Favorites- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Here is another card to celebrate our 1st Birthday at

You must check out all the great prizes to be won...it's going to be a great month.
The theme is such an easy one,
Use Your Favorite Flower

Now you may be wondering about my card and the flowers I chose to stamp with.  I have so many favorite flowers and yes, some of them are weeds.
As much of the garden flowers die off at Fall's arrival and cold nights, I love the lacy elegance of seeing all the Queen Anne's lace blooming in my area and so that's what I decided to stamp with.
I created the background first using my Distress Oxide inks and the Splash Watercolour Technique which is so easy and fun.  Basically you rub ink onto a non-stick surface, spray with water and slap your cardstock into the wet ink.
When that was dry, I stamped the Love Letter (butterfly) in the background using the same colours of DOX that I had used to splash onto my cardstock.  I wanted the butterfly to be faintly visible.
Next, using my Misti, I stamped the flowers and the Queen Anne's Lace then the sentiment.
To add a bit more depth and interest to the background, I stenciled using some drywall tape.

Please come and play along with us and have a chance to win some great prizes too!!

Christmas Time

Happy Saturday!
Today, I am playing with my Gelatos which I haven't used in so long.
If you are unfamiliar with them, they are smooth pigment sticks that look like crayons but are highly concentrated for wonderful colours.

I began with this newly released stamp from Penny Black called Red Star.
It is such a beautiful poinsettia and great to use if you like to colour directly onto your stamps with markers which I love to do.
So I placed the stamp into my Misti, painted a bit of water onto my stamp surface, then coloured them with Gelatos.  I sprayed with water then stamped onto my paper.  I repeated this process using shades of reds and a hint of pink and some gray until I was happy with the look.  Before it was totally dry, I clear heat embossed the flowers.  It gave them a cool, grainy look which I really liked.

Next, I stamped the sentiment from the PB set called Joyful Wishes and clear embossed it as well.
I watercoloured in the background using Distress inks.  It is easy to do by just pressing the ink pad onto any non-stick surface and picking up the ink with a wet paintbrush.  I find this technique works the best though, if you wet your paper first with a bit of water using the paintbrush.

The finishing touch was to splatter some white acrylic paint over the top to look like snow.

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look!

Favorite Flowers- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Wow....I've got some fun, inspiration, Guest Designers and amazing prizes coming your way!

This month at
we are celebrating our
1st Year Birthday!!!

You must check out all the great prizes to be won...it's going to be a great month.
The theme is such an easy one,

So onto my card.
One of my most favourite flowers are hollyhocks.  I can't seem to grow them because of all the clay soil in my garden, but I love seeing them in all their beauty and majesty.  A truly old fashioned, elegant looking flower.
I immediately thought of the hollyhock stamp I have by ISC (now sadly the company is closed) and how much I loved to use it for a watercolouring technique.
So I placed the stamp into my Misti, coloured with Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process adding darkers shades of the colours until I was happy with the overall look.  Using the Misti, makes that process very easy to add layers of color.
To do the background, I scribbled some of the marker onto my non-stick craft sheet and picked up the ink with a wet paintbrush.  I always like to wet my paper first before going onto it with the ink filled paintbrush.  When that was all dry, I stamped the sentiment using my Misti again.

Please come and play along with us this month.
The prizes are amazing!

Nature is Painting- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello.
It's time for another new and exciting challenge at the

Our theme this month is an easy one for this time of year:

We are also celebrating our
1st YEAR BIRTHDAY!!!!
There are great prizes to be won too so come and play with us!!

Prizes
$25 Gift Certificate to Simon Says Stamp for Challenge Winner
&
$25 Gift Certificate to Simon Says Stamp for one random draw of all entries
(must follow rules to be eligible for prizes)

So onto my card.
I began by masking the edges of my card front with Painter's Tape then using my Misti, I stamped the leaves and the baby's breathe and clear heat embossed them.  I did that so they would resist the ink when I added it over the top and not muddy up my images.  I did the same thing for the sentiment too.
To add the colourful background, I sprinkled some Brushos onto an acetate sheet (the kind that stamps are backed onto), sprayed with water to activate the pigment and used that to apply the colour over the leaves.  Since the acetate is so thin, I could bend it and place the ink down where I wanted it to be on my card front.
I removed the taped edges and simply mounted it onto a white card front.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you will check out the challenge with the chance to win and take a peek to see what my other talented team mates have created.  We also have a very talented guest this month, Marcia from Marcia's Stampin' Pad.
